ElectraJet
Project
Well my new ElectraJet arrived from UPS today
and I just couldn't wait to get started on the assembly.
I build RC planes all the time in fact it's rare if I
don't have one in the works. So I had all the required supplies to build this one
readily available.
Take note: This is just my experience with assembling an ElectraJet and I left a lot of the small tasks out. So if you have doubts about
something then by all means research it and make sure it's correct
before you make a mistake. Better to be safe then sorry, I promise you there is
nothing worse then gluing something really good and wrong ! Remember take your
time this is part of the fun.
The unique thing about this plane to me, it's a JET !!! So some of this stuff is new to me as
well, with electric planes you have some unique electronics compared to glow fuel
planes. One is the electronic speed controller (ESC) it controls the
electric motor just like a carburetor does a glow engine. And this plane also
uses delta mixing which is also a new one to me. Delta mixing basically in a nut
shell is making a single servo control two axis. The ElectraJets
aileron is also the elevator.
Anyway enough about that lets get to going on building
this plane !
In starting this kit I
realized it is a really nice kit and would be nice for someone to document the building process.
Maybe help others along in their assembly. I bet they
sell a lot of these.
The factory packing is well organized and
individually bagged.
So lets move on with the construction of the RC plane.
I had a couple days of surfing before the plane arrived so I already had a
pretty good Idea of the task ahead. I also read about a few of the
weaknesses that were being brought up. So I decided to make a few
modifications as I assemble it. Figure a little extra time now
could save me big from having to make an ugly repair later.
The equipment I will be using is a:
Hitec Flash 5X computer radio. ( A standard analog 4 channel
stick radio will work fine I just had this one on hand to use)
Hitec 555 ultra light receiver
2 Hitec HS55 micro servos
Isn't the internet wonderful, where else could one get
a head start on a project like this but here !
