ElectraJet
Assembly
Well now I have all the electronics installed and it is
time to set up all the trim's and connections for the speed controller and delta
mixer for the servos..
I used a 7.2 car RC battery because I had it on hand
and the battery had the correct connector for the ESC controller..

Electronics Check...
Well that all worked out great... It was a piece of
cake to setup.. All I had to do was level the ailerons even with the wings with
the servos at centered and tighten 2 setscrews..
Note* After I checked the control surfaces, I noticed
that the left and right control was correct but up and down was opposite of what
it should be. Just a simple reverse of the elevator servo switch on the
transmitter solved this. But this a definite note to listen to, if you are new
to RC please go to an RC field or area where experienced RC pilots are flying
and have them check your plane out ! I say this from experience, Yes I tried
the, going to learn myself route when I first wanted to fly and let me tell you
it don't work. But after just few trips to the field I was soloing not always
pretty especially on the landings but I was flying. Then all it is stick time
(Flight Time) and the more you fly the better you get. I now fly aerobatics,
sport and well electric planes soon.
Another good option is a good flight simulator but
you will still need a real RC pilot to help fly a real RC plane, I have seen many people
come out that could fly on the simulator but couldn't even taxi on the runway at the field.
Now it was time for one more modification to my
ElectraJet and that was to the landing skid. Again I had read about the skid
forcing the nose down during landing and causing damage to that sensitive front
section of the plane..
I chose for a flat skid..

As you can see my skid in now flat and slanted slightly
back, that should really help on not forcing the nose down in landing. I
think it looks better also. I
sanded the skid smooth and if I didn't tell you it was trimmed there you
wouldn't know It, the foam in this kit sands really nicely..

This is the section of the tail skid I removed..
The last part of my assembly included mounting the
vertical tail wings, installing the prop and gluing
the skid into place..

Rudder wings installed, Prop and motor cover
installed..
*** Tip ***
When putting the motor cover on, I came up with my own
solution for this. I didn't care for the looks of adding rubber bands to hold
the cover on it looked tacky to me, so I came up with this little neat solution.
I used some small size fuel line I had laying around
and just cut some 1/8" pieces and slipped them over the dowels. It worked
like a charm, looks good and you can still just slip them off to access the
motor area!

Engine cover with 1/8" fuel line as retaining clips.
